FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s the deadliest spider in the world?
That’s an interesting question. I’m no entymologist, but I’d have to say it’s a tie between the Sydney funnel-web Spider (Atrax robustus), and the Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria fera).
What’s the scariest spider in the world?
Another great question. There are so many scary spiders that sometimes it’s difficult to choose. The Goliath Birdeater spider (Theraphosa blondi) is the size of a dinner plate. That’s pretty scary. But there are also a bunch of scary spiders in your house right now, and that kind of makes them even scarier than the Goliath Birdeater.
What is your favorite shark?
The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias).
What’s the sexiest spider?
It’s a tie between the black widow (Latrodectus), and the happy-face spider (Theridion grallator).
What is your secret favorite shark?
The Shortfin Mako (Isurus oxyrinchus).
In your opinion, which spider is the most like Sean Connery?
That would have to be the Jumping Spider (Salticidae). See for yourself.
Although considered extinct, is Megalodon (C. megalodon) actually lurking out there just waiting for you to go boogie boarding?
What’s the most common misconception you encounter about spiders?
There are two. The first misconception is that spiders are not extremely adorable. This is patently false. Spiders are cuter than babies. The second misconception is that spiders are not actively trying to kill you, when in fact, numerous studies have been done, and the results are clear: spiders want to eat you.
